Bürstner is now also offering its compact camper van Copa as a 4x4 all-wheel
drive off-road vehicle with the aim of expanding its portfolio. It will appeal to
customers who are looking for a compact camper van that is also suitable for
more difficult terrain.
Kehl. In the spring of 2022, Bürstner will launch an all-wheel drive version of its
compact camper van Copa. The Ford Transit Custom based vehicle has been
converted especially for off-road driving, and an optional "Allroad Pack" of extras will
also be available (knobbly tyres, "Trail" design front grille, underbody protection).
This new multifunctional off-road vehicle is designed to be driven across loose and
slippery surfaces such as sand, snow or damp grass and therefore offers safer offroad
travel, made possible by the modern all-wheel system, which is automatically
activated as soon as the front axle wheels lose their grip. The electromagnetic clutch
engages and distributes the torque in a ratio of up to 50:50 between the front and
the rear axle, depending on the situation. Alternatively, the all-wheel drive can also
be selected permanently via a push button in the cockpit.
The model range will kick off with the popular layout Copa C 500. The standard
model is fully equipped with a pop-top roof with panorama feature, a large water
tank (50l), a 41l compressor cool box, swivel driver and passenger seats, several
cupboards and storage areas, a flexible rail system and an insertable table. The
heating system can also be controlled digitally via the Webasto Thermo Connect app.
Bürstner provides yet more home-away-from-home "wohnfühlen" moments with
further optional accessories such as the innovative Home Light® or a bench seat bed.
Five different packs of optional extras are available for the Copa C 500 4x4: the
Electrics Pack, the Allroad Pack and also the Ford Comfort Pack with or without
smart cruise control, as well as the Active 4x4 Pack. The Bus version comes with two single seats;
the Holiday version features a bench seat that converts into a bed for
two people. In addition, one or two optional single seats can be ordered for both
versions; the vehicle can therefore carry up to six people in total. Optional
accessories designed especially for the Copa, such as a rear tent, an awning, toppers
or a storage box, can be ordered from the Bürstner original parts & accessories shop
via the dealer.
"After the launch of our Campeo 4x4 in January 2020, we experienced a very high
demand for multifunctional off-road vehicles," explains Bürstner's head of sales
Markus Pangerl. "It therefore seemed logical to also offer our most compact vehicle,
the Copa, as an off-road version. It totally reflects our home-away-from-home
'wohnfühlen' feel core message and can be used in many different ways. We are the
first large-scale model range manufacturer to launch such a compact off-roader on
the market."
The Copa C500 4x4 will retail in Germany from €57,270 (basic vehicle + basic 4x4
pack).
